Research interests

My research interests are broadly in ubiquitous computing, low-cost identification devices and security. My current research is focused on ubiquitous computing applications based on multi-antenna RFID. I also work on the design and security of pseudorandom number generators (PRNG) for UHF EPC Gen2 RFID, and its security and privacy issues.

Other topics I am interested in are the security and privacy of NFC, and low-cost sensor networks such as WISP.

Short bio

I was born in Maó, Menorca, a beautiful island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. I moved to Barcelona to study B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Telecommunication Engineering at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. I realized my M.Sc. Thesis at Mobile Communications department of Aalborg Universitet (Denmark).

After that period I worked as a RFID Project Engineer at AIDA Centre company and I simultaneously studied a M.Sc. in Information and Network Society at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. In 2008 I received a grant to join the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute as a graduate student researching in Information Security and RFID with Dr. Jordi Herrera Joancomartí and Dr. Joaquín Garcia Alfaro, receiving my Ph.D. degree in 2011. Since 2010 I am Adjunct Lecturer at DTIC, Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, and External Researcher at KISON Research Group (UOC).

Besides from my academic activity I co-founed the NGO Telecos Sense Fronteres (telecomms without borders), with the goal to improve the health and education systems of non-developed countries by means of communication technology. We're currently implementing a communications system between health centers in south Nicaragua's Atlantic Region.
