Research interests


My research interests are broadly in Internet of Things, Pervasive Computing (RFID Systems), Human Activity Recognition, and Privacy.

Bio [short CV]

I was born in Maó, Menorca, a beautiful island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. I did my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Telecommunication Engineering at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, and the M.Sc. Thesis at Mobile Communications department of Aalborg Universitet (Denmark).

After that period I worked as a RFID Project Engineer at AIDA Centre Company, while doing a M.Sc. in Information and Network Society at UOC. In 2008 I received a grant to join the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) as a graduate student researching in Information Security and RFID under the supervision of Dr. Jordi Herrera Joancomartí and Dr. Joaquín Garcia Alfaro, completing the Ph.D. Thesis in 2011. In 2011 I joined the DTIC, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, as Postdoctoral Lecturer and Researcher. From March to September 2012 I was Visiting Research Scholar at Palo Alto Research Center (PARC, a Xerox Company) working on user and activity modelling using localization. Since 2014 I am Lecturer at EIMT, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

Besides from my academic activity I co-founed the NGO Telecos Sense Fronteres (telecomms without borders), with the goal to improve the health and education systems of non-developed countries by means of communication technology. Our last project has been a communications system between health centers in south Nicaragua's Atlantic Region.
